This policy sets out how The Last Resort manages information which it collects from you.

The Last Resort is bound by the Swiss Data Protection Act and is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (effective 25 May 2018).

Information collected by The Last Resort

The Last Resort collects personal information instigated by site users on their request. Data collected is limited to which includes (but is not limited to) your name, address, contact details, gender, age, occupation.

The Last Resort only collects this information from you when you make an online application for a subscription to The Last Resort or when you subscribe to our free email newsletter.

Use and disclosure of information collected by The Last Resort

The Last Resort does NOT use this information for any other reason than to communicate with you in regard to The Last Resort’s activities.

These activities include:

  • Mail or email delivery of our occasional newsletter
  • Other correspondence about The Last Resort applications, supporter subscriptions and activities.

Storage and Security of your Information

The Last Resort maintains a secure, password operated database for its supporter subscriptions, VAD applications, & purchase records.  The Last Resort employs various technologies to prevent, as far as is reasonably possible, any unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of your information.

Your data may also be stored on the ecommerce services such as Stripe and Godaddy. Each of these services provides built-in security. Google Analytics may also make use of aggregate data provided by you for the purpose of The Last Resort better understanding, managing and planning for website traffic.

Access to your information

You can gain access to your information by written request. That request or any inquiry about The Last Resort privacy policy should be sent to contact@thelastresort.ch .

The Last Resort will endeavour to deal with your request or inquiry as soon as is reasonably possible.

Update of your information

If your information changes, please contact The Last Resort and The Last Resort will endeavour to update and correct the information. The Last Resort may also contact you from time to time to check that your information is still accurate.

Changes to policy

You should check this policy each time you use the The Last Resort website.  The Last Resort’s handling of any information it collects from you (including information previously collected) will be governed by the most current version of this policy.

This Online Privacy Statement describes how we treat user data collected during your visit to the The Last Resort site. The The Last Resort site is www.thelastresort.ch and includes all web pages whose domain name contains thelastresort.ch. This is not the online privacy statement for other organisations websites that don’t contain these domain names. Neither is it the online privacy statement for other websites (e.g. blogs or social networking sites) where The Last Resort may have a presence.

The Last Resort takes many steps to protect your privacy when you visit the The Last Resort website. In order to provide you with a better experience, we do allow some tracking to take place. How and when we do so is explained below.

New Data Protection Act (revDSG)

A new Data Protection Act (revDSG) has been in force in Switzerland since September 1, 2023. The ordinance applies to companies or organizations that collect and / or process personal data. The Last Resort is compliant with this ordinance.

Data Security

When you purchase a The Last Resort Subscription, your data is stored on The Last Resort’s internal encrypted database server hosted in Switzerland. A second source of data storage is the online payment gateways used by The Last Resort, Stripe . Each of these services provides built-in security ensuring safe storage and use of data provided by you to The Last Resort, directly or indirectly.

Our Collection and Use of Information About You

Passively Collected Data

Like most websites, we may automatically receive and record information in our server logs from your browser when you visit www.thelastresort.ch. The information that we collect with these automated methods may include your IP address, cookie information, browser type, system type, and the referring URL.

We use this type of information to measure and improve the performance of our site.  On occasion we also access this type of information to investigate or maintain the stability and security of our site.

Voluntarily Submitted Data

Certain pages on the The Last Resort site may invite you to share personally identifying information, such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, personal health  and social background etc.  Sharing that information will allow you to join The Last Resort and, with the option of, applying for a VAD at The Last Resort.

We may use that voluntarily submitted data to:

  • Fulfill the requirements of your application/ subscription.
  • Contact you about other The Last Resort activities or news, or about opportunities to support The Last Resort.

Sharing of Information

The Last Resort may share your information with designated named health professionals who have a legitimate role in expediting a VAD request or subscription. No other sharing of data takes place with third parties in any other country at any time.

Our Email List

If you sign up for our email list, we may collect data by using an embedded image to track whether you open our email and by using a URL that enables us to identify that you have taken an action, such as clicking a link in an email.

This allows us to build more effective communication and to inform you about The Last Resort activities.

Our Use of Cookies

We may use cookies to improve website performance, to remember user preferences and settings, and to collect analytic data. By “cookies” we mean small text files placed on to your computer by our website when you visit.

“Cookies” may also refer to local storage, which is a mechanism similar to cookies where the information is stored within your web browser. We may use cookies as an improvement element in website performance.

We use Google Analytics tools that also places cookies, in order to give us a better understanding of how people engage with our website.  That in turn allows us to gauge the current performance of Website features, and to develop better content.   • What content they’ve visited
